So yesterday I decided to try something new in this latest round of carb depravity. I decided to keep coffee in my diet and try and use it to stay out of the ketosis fog. If you are new to this blog and don’t know what ketosis is…read this (Day 12 – It’s All in the Chemistry Baby) Ketosis is both friend and foe and is what’s responsible for my 30 pound weight loss this year. Its also responsible for me being in a brain fog. Your brain functions better by burning carbs but when you stop giving the ole noggin carbs and fat is burnt for energy your noodle feels like its operating sub par. Kind of like if you didn’t get enough sleep. Here are the results of day one:
Amen! Down three and a half pounds. I thought it would be 1 pound. Really! I felt so good yesterday…pretty much normal all day until I stopped with the coffee. After the caffeine drip was over mid afternoon I felt the fog taking over, which was good…I wanted to get some sleep. Here’s my secret…Sugar Free Creamer.
It gave me the sweet that I needed, along with the sugar free gum I chewed on before bed. Another difference I noticed this time compared to some of the other “first days” I’ve had along this journey (since we’re being completely honest) there was no major colon cleanse, if you catch my drift. I was regular the 1st day and that is not how things usually go down.
So, what’d I eat? No breakfast. (I get up late) For lunch I had a big bowl of Cilantro Slaw with some Turkey Lunch Meat slices. Recipe for the Cilantro Slaw is here (Day 30 – How Bad Do You Want It?) This time I used a ton more Cilantro, olive oil instead of canola oil and I added in some Dijon Mustard to the dressing. Coffee to drink.
Dinner was a baked chicken breast topped with cheese and oven roasted zucchini with butter and cheese. I also had a Chik-fil-A Sauce that I used to dip my chicken in. This was a cheat as it is full of sugar but it was only about a tablespoon of sauce so it didn’t derail me.
I had coffee with my dinner as well and then a bottle of Dasani Water later on that night. Dessert was a piece of Trident Tropical Twist Gum.
Here’s a pic that I took this morning…and it’s off to the weigh loss races we go!
